Once Upon A Dream Poetry Competition
Young Writers runs national writing competitions for schools, helping to turn imagination and creativity into confidence and writing ability. They create meaningful writing competitions, themes and outstanding resources aimed at engaging and inspiring the imaginations of children. The result is greatly improved confidence in their creative writing ability and seeing their writing brought to life in a real, physical book that they can proudly put on their bookshelf.
Mrs Crellin and Mrs Troughton’s class recently entered the Once Upon a Dream poetry writing competition, whereby they were asked to drift off into a world of dreams, taking the reader on a journey through their imaginations. Some of our aspiring writers were chosen to have their poems published, and for them to see their work in print was really exciting. So well done to the following for their fabulous writing: Canaan, Freddie, Grace, Jess, Luke, Nathanial, Nyla, Emily and Zak.
This is Nathanial's Entry:
A Dreamland Far Away
Once, in a dreamland far away, where people are extremely kind and generous to one another,
There are no fights; there is no hatred.
There are no wars or bullying.
People are just the greatest of friends.
In this dreamland far away, people are just fabulous!
They never give up; they seldom feel down.
They smile at their neighbours down the street.
They are as strong and resilient as Superman.
In this land, nothing goes wrong.
It is just as perfect as can be.
The sun is always smiling, providing its warmth.
People enjoy all activities...including school.
They treat each other like family,
In this dreamland far away.
