Safeguarding

Safeguarding at Crich Junior School

At Crich Junior School we take the safety and welfare of our children extremely
seriously. Parents should be aware that the school is required to take any reasonable action to ensure the safety of its pupils. In the cases where the school has reason to be concerned that a child may be subject to ill-treatment, neglect or other forms of abuse, the headteacher is obliged to follow the Child Protection procedures established by the Derbyshire Safeguarding Team and inform the Social Services of the school’s concern.

The school considers the safeguarding of pupils to be a priority; all staff are trained in Child Protection.  Everyone in school, both staff and volunteers have undergone DBS clearance and we operate a safer recruitment policy.

Early Help Assessment (EHA)

The Early Help Assessment (EHA) is a standard assessment used by all practitioners working with children, young people and their families or carers.  The aim is to provide the right support at an early stage before the need increases.

EHA involves listening and working closely with a child, family or young person to find out what help is needed and what is working well in their lives and can be shared between services.  EHA is used nationally and is a key part of working together to support families.

At Crich Junior School, if we feel that a child requires Early Help, we will discuss this with parents and, together if possible, write a referral to be sent to the Highfields Cluster Student and Family Support Team.  If the referral is successful, a member of the support team will contact parents and work closely with children, families and school to get the best possible support for the child and family.
